I wanted to have a career in classical piano when I was in high school and follow in the footsteps of my grandparents. In college, I discovered my love for filming and editing while living abroad in Florence, Italy. I landed a job with Euro Adventures, an Italian traveling company that had been looking for a videographer. They took me to 9 different countries in Europe that year where I filmed and edited videos for their company. Upon leaving Italy, I moved to New York for a few months to work at Victoria's Secret. At Victoria's Secret, I worked under celebrity photographer Russell James.
When I left New York, I began my interest in Photoshop compositing and creating surreal photographs. For the next several years, I would take pictures of myself with a tripod and remote clicker. Then I would spend hours figuring out how to Photoshop everything. During that time, I sold my Photoshop pictures on the beach at the local Farmer's Markets.
After nearly 8 years of Photoshop practice, I began video effects. After Effects and Premiere Pro have been intuitive video editing programs as the process is so similar to Photoshop compositing. Through VFX I create "magic trick" videos and story-like music videos. I have also put my video efforts towards the protests here in Southern California. It is fulfilling covering such events, to use my camera as a way to make an impact.
As an art history major, I am drawn to reflect the transition and revolution of modern artistic portraiture through my pictures and videos.
